It's sad to think how many people are shocked by honesty and so few by lies
(Changed it up a little from a book I read)

She can't stand her reflection
She can't stand her life
She can't stand her hatred towards herself
She can't stand her hair
She can't stand her smile
She can't stand her ears
She can't stand her hands
She can't stand her weight
She can't stand her depression
The only reason I know all these things is because, that girl is me.

I think depression can be poetic however I agree the second sentence you said. I think depression should be written in a way that IS dark and scary because it is NOT something beautiful. I think in today's society it is deemed as "cool" to be "depressed", I also believe depression is seen as a romantic characteristic trait. I think poems about depression should show the true colors of depression and make people realize that depression is a terrible thing.

This poem was written with so much emotion. I'm not going to tell you that you should go talk to a guidance counselor or get help, and I'm not going to tell you that you are beautiful. But, I'm going to tell you that the best thing about depression is becoming happy again. The ability to stay strong during depression proves that you are a strong young woman, and this is your choice. It took courage to write this and publish this online, without publishing it anonymously.

I don't find depression at all poetic. I find it dark and scary and disgustingly romanticized.
