Broken
No words can help
My broken heart,
No words can help
To heal it.
It's twisted,
Bruised,
Shattered to bits,
And with every step
I feel it.
It digs into my chest
On every side;
Slivers,
Splinters,
Shards.
They rattle around
As I walk
And when I run,
They
S H A T T E R . . .
Every storm shakes
My fragile calm,
Every arrow that flies
Pierces it.
My heart is broken
But it's still there,
That's all I can ask of it.
My heart is shy,
It's a skittish thing.
It will not let you hold it.
It refuses to heal,
It just won't hope,
And will not let you help it.
I only hope
There will be someone
That will see
My broken heart
As something to heal.
They might calm it down,
With gentle words.
Then they'd bind it up
With bandages of silk,
And let it be okay
Again.
I pray that they
Won't run away
When they see
It won't heal perfectly.
They'll stay and help
Pick up the bits
And my broken heart
Can beat again.

I was reading bitterblue, which was a disappointment compared to the other books in the series. It was a disappointment overall, and it was rather depressing. After I finished the book, the line 'no words can help my broken heart' floated through my head, so I decided to go with it and write a poem.
