Dreams
“Don't be afraid of the space between your dreams and reality.
If you can dream it, you can make it so....” Belva Davis.
It is only when we awaken from our dreams
that we realize we were in a dream at all.
A dream is only as real as you make it to be
whether it be a fantastic journey in which you discover something new
about who you really are
or of a picture d e v e l o p i n g slowly in a red room to become reality
perhaps a photo of that unforgettable day
that you fell asleep
forever
the day your mother wept over you
along with your father crying for you
praying and cursing all the same
to bring you back
to wake you up from that infinitely ongoing dream
that delusional hallucination
of thoughts and feelings
of pain and remorse
but also of love and kindness
which sprung from the day you were brought home from that dark place
the day you opened your eyes to see anew
the day you saw your parents again but somehow in a different light
their faces
how they felt so real unlike those translucent slides of film
was a miracle to you
or what seemed like one at that moment
which suddenly fell a p a r t and slipped away
bringing you back to that room
that room with an eerie red glow
a glow creating a dark light over every photograph still developing
every memory still waiting to happen
every memory that would never be
and every memory that had already come to pass
for the entire time
you were still sleeping
your parents eyes above you
your own eyes closed and looking inside of you
for a dream is only as real as you make it to be.
