Regal Fliers
Laying on the soft green grass
Smelling autumn on every blade
Feeling the breeze dance around in the evening light.
Watching the clouds against a bright blue canvas
Become a masterpiece only to change moments later.
Glimpsing darting blurs in the corner of my vision
Chasing and enjoying the life that these young robins live.
Catching the wind to lift themselves higher
To join the white fluffy artists of the sky.
Feeling the pleasure of flight
Moving through their gray feathers.
They display their warm orange chests
With pride and regality.
Landing lightly and
Appearing happy with a hop in their step.
These birds will be missed
With their color, song, and joy,
But will be celebrated upon their return in the spring.
