Just A Memory

The skies cry,
The stars hide.
They do not want to see these awful things.
How could we do this to them?
The crime we've committed
Cannot yet be undone
And for this we must pay.

We locked down our own cell doors,
We burnt down the last flick of hope.
We are our own downfall,
Our thoughts are our bane.
Our life, our biggest reason of self pity.

The world we built with outstanding determination,
We eviscerate of ethics and moral,
And fill it with depravation.

The young gamble and drink their sorrows away,
And those who once knew how the world used to be,
Now sit on their rocking chairs,
Waiting for their lungs to vacate, and loose grasp of life.

Now it's just a hollow memory, a paradise made by a desperate mind.
And one that will be lost over the time.
The birds and the trees and the seas ask in plea
Thunders blast, and waves crash against the littered shores.
They sing in unison their cry for mercy.
But we're too busy trying to find a solution to our problems,
That our loud efforts fill our ears,
so we can't hear nothing more than a simple whisper.

Some blame the government and society.
Others blame their pasts or even illness and poverty
But we are too disregarded to notice the root of our peril.
We are our own foes, our nightmares a reflection of our own fears.

Broken families,
Broken hearts.

We are highly dependent of the things that destroy us.
We act as if we own this world,
but the truth is that we are strangers to these lands.
The sense of humanity is lost.
In fact, all we have is ourselves and our creator above,
And yet we act as if we don't care,
Getting ephemeral toys we use to distract ourselves,
When all they do is kill us from the inside out instead of from the outside in.

Broken limbs, broken promises and broken smiles.

Some are foolish enough to deposit their trust on human lies,
Big mistake,
Because even trust betrayed us.
We are a tragedy.
Some smoke, some gamble, some drink, some cut.
Relationships are our bitter sweet poison.
And the shadows that lurk in our minds,
Whisper dreadful things, that keep us awake on those cold windy nights.

With every second that passes by,
Our minds loose a small piece of that memory of the world we once knew.
That sacred place that now seems so far away,
That world rooted on truths, happiness and fairness.
Let's listen to the lands beneath our feet,
as they scream, all together
Craving to be taken away to those memories,
Longing those happier times, that will never come back
For we've committed a crime, that cannot be undone
And these invisible chains that can't be obliterated are our rightful fate
For destroying what is now only just a memory.
