You and Your Past
You were dealt unlucky cards
I'm sorry life has to be so hard
Forget them and their thoughts
Think about how hard you've fought
The cuts on your arms don't mean a thing
Listen to the angels sing
You are not your past, you are not your scars
If you put your mind to it, I know you'll go far
We're different people, knit by pain
If you just keep hoping, one day it won't rain
The sun will come out and you'll finally be home
Because I promise this boy; you're not alone

I wrote this poem about someone I met recently. I've taken a liking to them.
