comfortable
There are people
I have either been close to,
Or just known,
Who have lied to me.
It breaks trust,
And you feel fooled.
But it’s another thing when
you lie to yourself.
Maybe you bend the truth so you can feel
Like everything is under control.
or, sometimes you feel close to the verge of
revealing all your secrets,
but you’re too used to the lies
to start unraveling the truth.
Sometimes you even feel comfortable in your own lies.
You can’t let slip your truths,
You’re too afraid,
But outside there is someone yelling,
“I UNDERSTAND!!”
And still you feel like no one can comprehend.
Maybe you feel no one will see
Why you have to lie to yourself.
They’ll just tell you everything will turn out okay,
But you call them “liars”, and you hide,
Confiding in your own shell.
Maybe you’ll overcome it.
Maybe you won’t.
But you’ll always be reminded of the lies
You told yourself,
And you’ll feel…
Comfortable.
