The Lies Beneath a Society

smiles are placed
on the faces of the
broken.
kids are convinced
they have to be like
the people on T.V.
etched into our minds
is the conspiracy that
money
is happiness
and happiness is key
and to be happy,
you have to be self-indulgent.
all of these lies,
are inscribed into our brains
at a very young age.
they tell us:
“Don’t lie,”
but aren't they the ones
that have been lying
to us from the start?
