Where I'm from
I am from Christmas cards camouflaging our signature red door,
from a perfect pumpkin family perched upon our porch, smiling as ghosts and ghouls walk by
from escaping sizzling summer sun in our purple hippo kitty pool
and riding our scooters all over the neighborhood greeting Mr. H and Molly
I am from “good morning sunshine” and “make good choices”
from “Hi Casey it’s mom” heard from miles and miles away
from “I’m smarter than you” to “Stop it Reece”
and parents screeching and shouting at sports events and walking through the field
I am from three perfectly puffed piles of fluff greeting me when I skip home
from the blossoming cherry tree on our yard, pastel pink wedding veil
from igloo’s towering over my head like the Epcot center
from the big red ford expedition parked in the cracked driveway
I am from glistening city streets with red and white gleaming lights reflected on the pavement
from the train station and the 5 and 10 store with a wide assortment of trinkets and tchotchkes
from the incredible amount of frozen yogurt shops shoved into a little town
and the astroturf field while the crowd oohed ahhed and covered their eyes as we threw people up in the air as they flyed like birds
I am from thanksgiving day, familiar, cheery, faces laughing
from grill offs and Robin’s oreo ice cream cookie pie surprize
and the colonies of teddybears encircling every inch of the house
from skies filled with hot air balloons of every different shape and size, colors dancing on the horizon
I am from folders upon folders spilling with me and reece in bumblebee suits
from a chest of old childhood toys like spotted kitty and webkinz
I am from a shelf covered with old dusty dance trophies and swimming ribbons
this is where I am from and this is who I
