Where I am From
I am from tennis shoes, from Nike and Adidas. I am from spending hours on my feet, filled with energy from morning to night.
I am from breezy windows, ceilings taller than the clouds, and wooden floors I am from apple trees, roses and dandelions in the backyard where I shared my childhood.
From my family making me into the girl who I am today. I am from game nights and Sunday morning movie days.
From being told, “always try your hardest, don’t ever give up on your goals.” I am from going to church on Sunday and thanking God before every meal.
I am from Spanish customs, dinners louder than screaming girls at a Justin Bieber concert, and knitting lessons from grandma.
I am from wheeling our three week old puppy around the neighborhood in a stroller, from spending 18 hours a week at the pool, and baking cookies on Wednesday’s.
I am from making the most out of my day. From bike rides in the summer, and going to Culvers when cravings struck after long days at the beach.
I am from getting to school in my new shoes.
From Nike and Adidas.
