I’m from pumpkin patches on Halloween,
from digging for dinosaur bones in the backyard.

I am from tractor rides on a Saturday afternoon,
from family dinners packed inside a dining room

I’m from camping on the islands in the Chippewa flowage,
from raking leaf piles in fall and jumping into the colors.

I am from sawdust filled rooms,
from hard hats and hammers.

I am from cozy fires in the basement,
from drinking hot chocolate after making snowmen in the cold.

I am from Acton, one I short of action,
from crabby Abby and abs

I am from arts and crafts,
from stick figures, drawings and paintings.

I am from smiling one minute to frowning the next,
from stress and low self-esteem at my worst.

I’m from being with the people I love,
from dealing with people that aren’t worth my time.

I am from rude awakenings,
from 3am ambulance rides.

I am from moving on from mistakes in my past,
from living for today.

I’m from arguing, passion, chaos, happiness, frustration, warm hugs,
from friends and family.

I am from love.
