A Billion Miles Closer

It's nice to know billions of years went by
to let me know I was born
like the Earth was spinning until it stopped for me,
to let me touch the sky.

But as the world keeps spinning,
it happened to stop at you.

  Billions of years before me,
  billions of years after you,
and the lights are shining so slowly
  but touch the moment faultlessly.

  Over and over
  years skip over each other
like a snap of my fingers.
Years tumbling over each other in other galaxies,
  Lives scattered across the universe,
billions of times time could've skipped over you.

And yet billions of chances had me look at you.
