body electric
this is me against you, me against myself, you against yourself
body electric: tell me why you do this, night after night, why the channels in my veins are silent, why there was a power outage last night just as the
sun went down
it’s us against each other, me telling you about all of the cities i’ve been to and you trying to explain other countries. the sunrise in albuquerque, the sunset in albuquerque, midday in new york, new york, midday in hartford, connecticut. you talk about france, about italy, i pretend not to hear or maybe we just don’t know the same language anymore.
it’s gotten to the point where i’m not alone until the very last second, and then it’s black and blue and crawling inside of me, it’s gotten to the point where i hang on until i can’t anymore, and then it’s me against myself and i’m becoming black and blue
it’s the beginning, when i’m underwater trying to come back up for air. it’s now, you’re pushing me down, i’m pulling you up, holding my breath until i can’t anymore and then trying to breathe so that it doesn’t hurt, helping you drown, pulling you up
it’s the end, us against each other
power out before the sunrise
