leafy green
tickles my nose and
my ankles and
I breathe in the ancient mossy comfort
my back against a
stillness more
profound
than imagination
I am one with
eternity
for a fleeting
moment
until
you call my name and
I remember to
blink down at
a smile brighter than the
lazy summer sunshine
that
puddles on my
bare thigh

Eternity can wait

The author's comments:
I wanted to write something that captured the simple beauty of summertime joy and spending time with a loved one. Actually, this was written sometime in springtime during a bout of creative inspiration, and, now that I think about it, doesn't have a set time frame. But whenever and wherever you read this poem, I hope it brings a bit of that summertime sunshine into your life.
