For my loved ones
Don’t cry at graduation.
You’ve raised me strong.
Everyone will be telling me,
“Congratulations!”
but you deserve that.
You’ve done so much more
than pass high school.
Without you who knows
where I’d be now.
maybe I’d hang around
in some back alley
or in one of those
school shootings on TV
I’d probably have my
own personal spot at
our local cemetery
But thanks to you
I’m off to college now
I’ll happily let you
tell me what to pack
just promise me one thing
Don’t ever look back.
