"Don't be afraid to fly..."

Silent tears streaming down her face form a puddle of memories at her scarred feet
Droplets of tragedy splattering onto the depleted wood floor of the bedraggled shed she called home
Her heart lay shattered on the floor boards
The patchwork patterns of forgiveness destroyed fractured a thousand times
The village she inhabits lays in ruins almost vacant
The run-down hamlet teeters on the edge of a precipice

Abused,neglected,ignored
Her family abandons her
Leaving behind nothing but a path of hatred and traumatic recollections

The river adjacent to the worn down shack is fabricated by years of uncontrollable weeping
Her past haunts her each night with each mumble from inside the walls and every sentence uttered by the crestfallen creek

Crimson liquid splattered on the floorboards
With every sting of pain her heart seems to heal
The blade worn down
Drawn across gentle skin too often
Scars forever showing on her body
Countless marks of pain cover her arms and legs
She's all alone forced to fight a losing battle by herself

Her values matter no more
Her morals, nothing but distant memories
Life to her has no meaning any longer
She ponders her very existence
The faith she had no longer is present
She prays each night to an unknown God
The prayers drift through the atmosphere unanswered

The author's comments:
My inspiration to form this piece came to me during English seventh period. We were reading a poem related to death and a stanza referred to sounds of sorrow. This inspired me to write something about what sorrow sounded like to me. I wrote it in about a day and a half carefully crafting all of my hardships into this work of fiction. I hope that people will read this and be inspired to write more because it is a life long activity and with the social media who knows when writing might start disappearing.
