To know, is to know that you know nothing. That is the meaning of true knowledge.<br /> -Socrates

Like the roots of a tree
My family is all over the place
Dad is the tap root
Going far away to provide the most
My brother split off
Long ago
Finding his own water
Making new trees and new roots
But always staying connected
With those old roots
Mom is the flow of the water
Constant and nourishing
My sister made her own grove
Still close, but creating her own
I am where the roots come together
Staying connected
Keeping it together
My family are roots
Spread all over
But still connected
Keeping the tree alive

The author's comments:
This piece was inspired by the connection I feel with my family. Mainly after my dad left the last time to go work out of town, he has been working out of town for almost three years now, and he rarely gets to come home, but even gone many miles away, our family is still close.
