Everyone knows the aged verse about sticks and stones, and breaking bones. But I've come to find that the verse is a lie. When words are spiteful they are destructive to your self-esteem. Broken bones can be healed with a simple cast, but there's no way to bandage what's trapped in your head. Cruel sayings inject you with a poison for which there is no antidote. This venom doesn't affect your physical health, it causes ailments of the mind. It makes you think that every compliment you revive is a distortion, and causes your self-image to become vile. Of course words can hurt you, just try not to accept them. You have to believe that they are untrue. And if one day you think you reach your limit, just stay ambitious and keep moving forward. You will come to find that what you thought was your limit, was just a closed door, and all you had to do was turn the nob and keep on walking.
