The Monroe Age
Marilyn.
A woman with an image to maintain,
One that influenced many,
One captured in fame.
Her image was idolized.
She could never crumble.
She remained in the spotlight
By not remaining humble.
Her beauty
Was eternal,
The way it lasted through decades, but
Causes problems that became external.
Girls are too fat,
They need to be thin.
The battle inside
Now marks their skin.
Beauty has changed,
Beauty has formed
To the masses as skinny
Where beauty has conformed.
You must be outgoing,
You must be small.
You must be obedient,
And you must be tall.
Each girl feels the pressure,
Each girl must change.
Her image of beauty
Has caused ours to estrange.
Marilyn is the
Source.
She is the heart
To cause beauty to discourse.
So we thank you, Marilyn,
For the battle that resides,
Hidden in everyone
Always inside.
