First there was soil,
Then grass seeds,
Gently planted.

First there was earth,
Then cement,
Rigidly set.

First there were a few feet,
Then some more,
Trampling nature.

First there was grass,
Then patches of bare dirt,
Because it is in human nature to ignore.
