You see him standing there
alone in the corner of the gym
as quiet as a lion, stalking its’ prey
during another boring pep-rally

You continue chatting up a storm
with your friends over something stupid as
you see him standing there as
the small kid in the corner
you have stood where he is standing once or twice before
yet, there is nothing you do about it

You see him standing there as
the small kid holds his backpack with his sweaty palms
close to his back, so no jerk takes
his fathers’ old torn up leather wallet, or
his mothers’ locket, shoved away in his torn up pocket

You see him standing there and
no one knows what the small kid is going through
yet, no one bothers to get to know him because;
he wears the same nasty sweatshirt, shirt, socks and shoes,
day after day;
his frizzy blonde hair shows a
large amount of grease,
day after day;
his grey eyes show the same amount of dullness
as they continue looking for hope,
day after day.

Before you go leaving a person there to
suffer in silence;
as their voice will never be heard,
like a wolf howling in the wind
Be a friend to those who
look like they could use one.

This poem is about something that every kid, doesn't take much thought or consideration about in high school. Many kids are able to relate to my poem.
