Words Said In Silence
There we stood.
My back against the brick wall
Him standing freely in front of me His eyes glued to mine, and mine to his
Neither one of us speak.
Just stare.
I notice his unsteady heartbeat and the lag in his breathing
He slips his hands to the sides of my hips, then stops
Waiting for me to respond
I suck in a cold breath
He takes a step closer
Neither one of us speak.
Just stare.
I notice the color of his eyes
They're brighter than I remembered
I watch his eyelids open and close.
I feel his grip around my waist tighten
And I know that our thoughts mirror.
Neither one of us speak.
Just stare.
