I Think I Do
We’re down to Seconds,
We’ve been waiting all summer for this,
Months of tears, preparation, confusion,
But now, it’s finally here, mere seconds now.
I glance to my brother, who’s biting his lip in the corner,
He’s nervous I can tell,
“Kierra, go and talk to your brother.” My mother says behind my back, her chest red from the nerves,
I nod and walk towards him, he smiles and bows his head, staring at the grass,
I wait no longer and pull him in for a hug,
“You’ll do great, I am so proud of you,” I say reassuringly,
He starts to cry and I hold him tighter, I don’t think I have ever seen him cry before,
My strap on my dress breaks from the cloth on his tux, “I think you just broke my dress,” I murmur, and we both laugh away the tears.
But now I am in front of almost all of our family, watching the door for Shiloh to arrive,
She finally walks out from the door and she is grasping her dads arm for dear life,
I smile, she looks beautiful, and I peak back at Brendan,
He’s tearing up again, tears of joy I am sure,
She walks closer towards us, and her father seems shaky,
He gives Brendan, her hand and I can already see he’s antsy to kiss her,
My dad’s phone accidentally rings in the distance,
And Bryer screams “Oh-No!”
Everyone laughs and smiles,
Brendan grabs Shiloh’s hands and they smile to each other, and the uneasy feeling is finally away,
They repeat those magic words, and finally, they’re able to say “I do”
And everyone cheers, as they push their lips together,
I am proud of my brother.
