Reality
The emerald waves lapping upon the sand,
Softly hissing on impact,
Harmoniously blending
With a warm breeze floating in ant out
Of golden sea oats.
A serine horizon tinted
Of oranges, yellows and reds
Contrasting the dark silhouettes
Of soaring birds
Scrunching up her toes to bury
Them into the sand, inhaling the salty air
It was enough to ease the months
Of stress from her shoulders.
how she missed the rising sun
On her cheeks.
Blaring continuously, the dull grey
Plastic alarm projected itself to
The still room, waking her
With the harsh reality.
The dawn was breaking,
It was time to get up,
The beach was hundreds of miles away.
Mustering enough energy to roll over,
The glared at the contraption
With bloodshot eyes. With a shaking hand
She gripped the alarm
And sent it flying across the room,
Silencing it.
Burring herself back into the still arm covers
She shut her eyes and demanded
Sleep and dreams that contrasted
Her bleak, dull life to overtake
Her worn out consciences.
Reality could wait.
