The Monster
Ice.
As I watch it melt,
evaporate into beautiful wisps of smoke,
Swirling in a glass container,
prisoner to itself,
I think of you.
My heart stops.
And I inhale glass.
And the racing of my heart,
the buzz of bees in my head,
Is not enough to help me forget,
So I load another,
watch it melt,
And fly into oblivion.
I watch blood drop from my skinny wrist,
I watch the ice again,
gleaming inside of glass,
And I try
So hard
To forget,
But high or low, ice or snow,
I'll be flying into oblivion until I collapse,
Because deep inside I know,
I'll never forget.
So I'll melt along with ice,
until oblivion claims me forever.
