I am from the corn-field roads
from the bruises to the bikes
I am from the adventures in the air to the hot soup at night
to tragedy of illness and death of those
who lost their fight
from the childhood
to teen in a matter of minutes
sickness and health; we won that fight
forgiveness and faith
we had found our way
to the 3 ways we praised each day
knickknacks and clothing
each one holding a memorie
each having a story to tell

I am from the loving and caring
from courtrooms to hospitals
and surprises along the way
from yesterday to today I’ve made my way
from Melvin and Verene
hot coffee and cheerios
to the freshly cut grass
to the bike rides on the highway
memories that are faded
are hidden beneath the truth that is to be told
the roads were bumpy
with obstacles we had to climb
from depression to happiness
from the fake smiles to laughter
it will never be the same

I am from the generous and kind
the who's the what's’ the where’s the when’s
but no one really know
what lies beneath the buried
surface we call a grave
the memories that have gone away
the fun times that passed away
just like the forgotten child
those memories are done
the bottle caps have been thrown away
to the torn cloth we worn every day
just another obstacle in my way
I’ve found my way
