(This poem is meant to be read top to bottom and then bottom to top, excepting the last line)

It is not true what they say
My generation cannot help the world
Adults say
Let them handle it
There will be doctors and scientists and peacemakers and artists
But not from my generation
The world is filled with trash
We are lazy, ignorant, and self serving
Adults are wrong when they say
My generation will change the world
We are the generation that can
Fixing the world is hard
We understand that
It is difficult for our generation to amount to something
I do not believe
We can be the change you want us to be
Money
Is more important than
Love
Wealth
Is more important than
Hope
This is the mantra of my generation
Helping the world one person at a time
Takes too long
Waiting around
Is my generation’s best quality
Innovating
Is not my generation’s legacy
But consuming
Shows us what we really are
Love
Acceptance, and trust is
Not our story
Judging and berating is
We know
The expectation for us is high
Do not be surprised when we do not follow suit
The whole world is upside down
And will always be unless we reverse it
