My Hero
They say every child deserves a hero,
I used to believe this.
But I have no hero.
I thought I had Superman once,
But really my Superman was just an image of lies.
Lies used to cover up what he really was,
Promises that never really were.
So much pain so much tugging,
Watching you inject yourself with nothing but false love.
The love that has left me empty,
But I still do not see you as nothing.
I don’t know why this is,
So please tell me why you keep leaving me dry?
All I want to do is cry.
But I can’t find the tears from all the years of emptiness.
I still try to see the hero within you,
But I can never see you as the man I used to call my hero.
But even with the endless hurt,
You still try to be that man.
And hopefully one day you can be that man, my hero.
