Pond Sledding

A snow covered hill
a half-frozen pond at the bottom
a raft in our hands
fun on our minds

A yell of “1…2…3!”
the lift off
wind whistling at my face
as if having the window down in a car

Closer and closer we get
the more I regret
I hear the tube “wish” on the snow
oh boy, here we go

Splash down into the half-frozen pond
no regrets now because it’s already done
it was exhilarating
we look to each other… “Again?”

This was one of my favorite memories of the awesome stuff I would do with my cousins at Christmas.
