I fell in love with the man who gave me my coffee this morning,

And then fell twice as hard for the chocolate donut that accompanied my drink.

It reminded me of how I fell in love with the thought of jogging,

But fell twice as hard for the shape of my waist and the soft underside of my thighs.

I used to believe that happiness was high-waisted shorts with no stretch marks,

Or slender calves and pointed cheekbones;

Now I have learned that happiness is the way I love myself,

And the belief that one day someone will completely fall in love with me,

Only to fall twice as hard when they discover that I was fine before they loved me too.

go eat a cheeseburger, take a walk on the beach, paint your toenails, and love yourself.

I think this is a very well written poem. I love the contrast of the stanzas and how they really bring your point across! It reminds me of my poem Compromised Perfection, you should check it out!!:)

Very unique topic, and well written! However, I think you should somehow change it so that the transition between the thought of jogging and the lesson of loving yourself is smoother. I am strongly against loving yourself and enjoying your life and all that. But I'm just reviewing your poem.
