kids these days
kids these days
they live behind screens
and the plastic keys of keyboards
kids these days
doing drugs and drinking underage
like it’s nothing.
young people have always believed
in their own invincibility.
but now more than ever
kids these days
think they are
unstoppable. unbreakable.
they think nothing bad will happen
if they get drunk and high
and lose their virginity before they’re out of highschool.
they think that nothing can bring them down
until that moment.
it’s an in between moment.
it’s a slow motion moment.
it’s that moment when you’ve done something bad and you know you cannot ever erase what has happened.
it’s that moment when you realize you’ve lost control of the car and you can’t stop it.
can’t stop it.
kids these days.
they think they’re unstoppable
but they don’t know
until that moment
that in between moment
that slow motion moment
that life is unstoppable.
life is a pencil without an eraser
or better yet
a permanent marker.
in that in-between-slow-motion moment
when you realize that you have just been so so so stupid and that you have probably just lost someone you love forever
in that moment when you see your life flash in front of you
like one of those flip books
it’s in that moment that you learn
that your actions are undoable.
kids these days should know
that beer and drugs might seem okay now
but they won’t later
when you are
on your knees
begging for forgiveness
from the girl you loved so much.
'I was drunk.
I didn’t know what I was doing.
I am
so
so
so
sorry.'
you don’t know it
until that moment
and sometimes
when that moment does come
it’s already too late.
