As I Grow Up
As I grow up,
The line between black and white,
Blurs;
Like smeared condensation on cold windows,
the brooding clouds before a storm.
The innocence worn so easily in youth,
Has been shed.
Like a child's white scarf,
Discarded in a hurry,
Then trampled blindly,
Left tattered in a muddy puddle of water,
The child's neck now bare and covered in goosebumps,
As they stand alone,
Rain sluicing down their cheeks,
As they stand alone,
Realizing what they have lost.
