Nightmare
Sometimes when I am content with life a little nightmare visits my dreams,
He sits and chats with me for a few nights,
At first he’s nice or so it seems,
He tells me of all the things I’ve done wrong in life,
I try to ignore, but I grow tired of our fights,
It’s a battle most of the time,
Then he shows me in my back rests a rusty knife,
My content mind tries to wrap my head around Nightmare’s words by trying to rhyme,
I cry and he laughs knowing of his win,
He stays until my happiness fades,
He makes me believe I am all in myself a sin,
Then I stand up slowly while he yells, “NO!”
Tired of letting Nightmare push me around I shove into him knocking him to the ground,
My strength is regained,
My mind is now clear,
As Nightmare now seems to just disappear,
But I know he’s there,
Waiting for me,
To feel happy once again,
Then he will be back to force me back,
But this time won’t be in his favor,
Because I am ready,
This is my Nightmare,
And I will conquer him.
