By the River
That night we heard the moths hitting the window,
Some dusty porch light let us see them,
Hot and thick air, panting, we felt no wind blow,
Maybe something was out there somewhere, some hidden gem,
We didn't talk, there was nothing to say,
They couldn't scare us with their silence,
The noise of the moths and the smell of the hay,
Were more than enough to keep us on our islands.
