Today never ends but tomorrow never comes...<br /> ~Caden McGhie

The leaf greens as a child plays
The leaf browns as age grays
The leaf dangles off the branch waiting
The leaf falls as time goes by
Death becomes Time's only alibi

Continuation

More children age and gray under the leaves of the tree
As leaves fall and time goes by
Always the same they cry
It never ends, this ancient tree just plays it's wicked game
And all the same we join along counting Time and Days

The author's comments:
I recently spent about a week or more during lunch looking out the window at a large tree. I don't know why but I found two tree branches that make the shape of a triangle with a single green leaf hanging in it. Slowly I watched the leaf turn brown and more leaves grow in around it. Finally it turned brown and it hung off the branch, and its still dangling, waiting for a silvery wisp of air to knock it off the tree.
