Bound at the Wrist

Graceful lines
Sloping softly
Long, thin inclines
Grasping gently

Stretches outward
Something to hold
Help offered
Sometimes cold

Scarred or calloused
Soft or rough
Used by an artist
Flesh becomes tough

A daily tool
Fascinating gift
Symbol of fisted rule
Or captives set adrift

Five petals
On these flowers
Never true equals
Packs much power

Curl then release
Hardest to draw
Centers creased
Wondrous awe
