Snow Days
The snow glistened
In the shimmery glean
Of a young child’s eyes.
His heart jumped for joy
And so did he.
He threw himself down
In the powdery white fluff,
Just enjoying the meaning of it all:
No school, just play all day.
A smile broke out a cross his face
As snowflakes melted on his lips
And took rest upon his eyelashes.
It felt like one of the best days in his young life,
He was so happy,
He could no longer feel

And began to roll and roll,
His buddies joined in,
Piling clumps on clumps,
To make a solid foundation.

The last piece,
A carrot from the fridge,
And just like that their master piece was finished.
Everyone ran inside, making fresh footprints in the snow,
For that quite desirable hot chocolate,
Filling the air with beckoning calls of its warmth.
All except the boy
Who stood still staring at the mounds of snow,
He was proud of their creation, and knew
It would stand tall even when all the snow was gone.
He answered the beckoned call and ran along inside,
But he will always remember the countless creations
Made on those cold wintery snowdays,
