Just Another Face In The Crowd, 4:51

She watches the stage
with her eyes glowing.
Tears blur
her vision and a
smile
stretches across
her face.

They’re real.

The bass drum’s thrumming
vibrates the room.
The guitar’s chords that she’s
spent hours memorizing
fill her ears.
Piano keys’ soft melodies pour
into the air.
Closed eyes follow
the start of her

favorite song.

The one that
never failed to
comfort her
during the darkest hours;
the song that

saved her life.

And the tears fall when she
realizes
that this is the band that
kept her

alive

They will always
stand out among the rest.
But to them,
she’s

just another face in the crowd.

The author's comments:
I wrote this about my favorite band, and as cliché as it may sound, their music has helped me get through so much in my life. I think a huge issue with my generation's parents is that they don't realize that without music, a lot of their children would not be alive. Banksy once said "A lot of parents will do anything for their kids except let them be themselves," and I think there's a lot of truth behind that. That's what this poem is showing; a time and place and feeling that belongs entirely to me and that no one can take away.
