There was a reflection,
After she looked in the mirror there was only the thought of neglection.
She cried each night, not making a sound,
As so she wouldn’t have to hear the flick of the light.
There was never any help, on her last day
Her last breath came out in the sound of a “yelp”.

The author's comments:
In this poem Jae’la used rhyme in this poem for a more masculine tone. The author made sure that there was plenty of words with rhythm in it. But all the words used was for the masculine tone. There was one syllable for at least each line. Also the set up of the poem was purposely used to make the reader search for words that are rhyming. The device used gave the poem a soft meaning even though it is supposed to be masculine. This poem describes a girl who is having a rough time in life and really needs hep.
