Ruined
It ruins us all,
It ruins the best of us.
It pushes the family away
And puts us on scattered grounds.
You lose one the first time,
You discover the appearance next -
Nothing you can do,
Even if it means you watch them suffer.
You say goodbye after their pain,
Fall down into the deepest pit
Endless and torturous,
Beat down with heaviness
Grandma lost the battle,
And I don’t want to see another one down.
Dad, I’m sorry you have to be the one
With stage two lung cancer this time.
You’re strong enough,
We know you can fight this.
Cancer grows, cancer kills
Cancer ruins it all.
All the damages done,
Are never taken back.
Just left on the paths we walk along.
