Only Ten
Tears filled up in her eyes,
they stung, she wanted to cry.
She knew something wasn’t
right.
They walked her upstairs,
brought along her sister,
they told us
we were going to live with mommy.
But she was only turning ten
and such a painful memory
shouldn’t be stained in her head.
but it is.
The little girl was forced to grow up too fast.
The little girl rode there with mommy,
and home with daddy.
The little girl was only turning ten.
But she moved forward.
She had to.
Even though she was only turning ten.
