Heaven

The ceilings cave in, displaying a staircase
As the never ending staircase unwinds, beautiful and natural light begins to flood in from up above.
I do not shield away from the light as if it were my enemy.
Instead, I embrace it, while its delicateness embraces me at the same time.
I then begin to lift my foot for each step that is to come before me, but I find myself floating upward like a cloud in the pale sky.
I can’t help but slowly close my eyes and raise my arms for I cannot contain the magnificent feeling that is boiling within me, as I continue to rise up.
Suddenly, I hear a quiet and familiar voice that is desperately calling for me!
Juhee, Juhee, the voice calls out
Where have I heard this voice?
I inch closer and closer every time my name is being called out.
When I am as close to the voice as possible, I open my eyes.
A woman with a beautiful smile and warm features greets me
“Grandmother,” I exclaim!
My grandmother and best friend that was once buried in the cold ground is now glowing with unimaginable youth.
I open my arms wide, ready to stay in the comfort of her arms, but instead, find darkness.
With a cold sweat, I open my eyes, and quickly take in my surroundings.
My rugged old desk, and beaten down drawer still remain.
I think back to my dream and smile
Although the dream of heaven was too quick, I smile even louder for I know that if I wait a little longer, heaven will be with me forever!

This poem was based entirely off of a dream that I had recieved a couple of months after my granmother passed away.Through this poem, I hope that people realize that their loved ones that might not be here today are not far away and will always be with them.
