You mock me don’t you little curser?
Flashing before me upon my blank screen like a ticking clock
impatiently waiting for me to begin.
Every time you blink insensitively before me
another opportunity to create is lost.
You disappear with my words don’t you little curser?
Each time you fade into my computer you snatch the phrase that lay resting on the tip of my tongue.
Your constant flickering distracts me in my time of thoughtlessness.
Though it agitates me so, I cannot seem to tear myself away from it.
I envy you in fact. You have not a care in the world.
Your only mission is to follow a pattern set by another being.
How simplistic your existence must be.
The complexity of my own life is what’s scrambling the flow of inspiration.
A sigh escapes my mouth and like an etch-a-sketch you shake up my mind
erasing any trace of creativity.
How dare you do this to me?
You know not of the torment that accompanies a blank imagination.
At this very moment my thoughts are black and white
just as the pearly glow of my screen is and
its dark accomplice- the tiny curser that is turning out to be the bane of my existence.
I glance once more at the bobbing motion of my flashing foe
And it dawns on me that I am harassing and questioning the motives of
a lifeless piece of technology.
Such strange things occur when one is the depths of writers’ block.
Perhaps there is a beacon of ingenuity illuminating my thoughts after all.
For this piece of revelation I owe my gratitude to the little curser dancing upon my screen.
For it unknowingly nudged me out of my slump.
It once was my most despised enemy and now it has become my motivator, my inspirer.
Oh, writers’ block.
Such strange things occur indeed.
