It Rained in January

It rained in January,
poured all the way through February,
we spoke in March -- you told me i broke your heart,
you missed my birthday in April,
you apologized in May,
In June we were friends,
you left me in July.
It rained in January,
I think it was a Saturday,
my shoes were painted, edged with slush
my snowman's smile got washed away,
he melted on Sunday
I was hoping for snow but it was all rain
