I gave it all/
up, before the fall/
out, to stop the hurt/
before I felt my heart break/
Confessed how I feel/
Least how I wanted to/
But it was just too much/
Felt like I'd always hurt you/
When I said it was over/
that I was done/
We should just be friends/
Should have looked closer at the cover/
I'd know life's non-fiction not pretend/
Said I was leaving/
that I couldn't see/
us working out, no matter what/
When I ran/
Wanted you to follow/
And you ran/
Just not after me
