Footprints
A footprint laid down by a traveler
 The tide washes in
 The footprint washes out
 It is gone

The traveler walks by years later
 And ponders why the water
Erased that step so key to him
 It was never there

 Yet still the traveler longs
 Knows that he was there
 Has no proof, only memory
The tides of time rushed in
 The memory was changed as
 The tide rushed out

Yet still he curses the water
Sits on the beach and yearns
The tide comes in and swallows him
 When the tide ebbs
 The traveler is not found
