“Inhabitant of this earth, tell me who you are,
what makes you any different from a star among stars?”
Truly, l reply,
“My black hair, tan skin, and brown eyes,
may not seem as though one of a kind,
but let me say, there is one thing l hold,
something more valuable then gold.”
“Who am l?”
“I am the solely reflection of my creator,
both mother and father.
I am the individual,
I hold no label.”
Retorts the human being,
“Inhabitant of this earth, tell me who you are,
what makes you any different from a star among stars?”
Again l say,
“Flesh is mere flesh, but what is that to me?
For I am the beholder of my own identity.
My black hair, tan skin, and brown eyes,
may not seem as though one of a kind,
to the world that is,
because in my eyes,
I am one of a kind.”
Replies,
“Inhabitant of this earth, tell me who you are...”
I smile,
“I am that star among stars.”

The author's comments:
What inspired me to write this piece, is based from experience. We are judged by our appearances, our social behavior, or even our ranking. If we look at ourselves, and look at others, we realize that we are no different. "Flesh is mere flesh." What holds us together, is not who we present ourselves to be, but what truly makes us special in our own individual way. I hope to convey this message to the reader.
