"Life is but a dream that shall be written by the dreamers"

From the first time I could make sense of the noise around me
The traffic in the streets, the people carrying on monotone conservations
I knew the sound did call me
It was not organized or sensible to the ear
But it sparked a light inside my head which called me
From being another face in the crowd
A rain drop in a sea that does engulf my being
And renders me nameless
It pulled my body from the ocean and filled my mind with gripping melodies

Like a child putting their feet to the ground for the first time
I stumbled into the rhythms of nature and life
And with growing confidence I leaped into the noise, to make sense of it all
I couldn’t yet run into the harmonies but I walk cautiously towards that light
It was simple unison but simple disarray
I did not know, I could not see or feel
But I could hear
And suddenly I opened my eyes
To a world beyond human thought
A universe of sounds and rhythms that finally became clear
It can be described only in the emotions of love, lust, loathing,
And the light that carried me to it
It was music that lifted my soul

And now the child grown, I was ready to run
Into a world I was to discover
With gleaming eyes and open palms
I reached for it
I made sense of the noise and the sounds
The thunder applauded and the lighting flashed its approval
As I pushed through the stormy veil
And my voice broke the silence of the calm and peaceful water
My notes made waves in the music of life

I wrote this poem as a sort of parody to Pablo Neruda's poem "Poetry", and used music as my subject.
