I look at him
sitting next to me.
We smile at eachother
with a hint of fear
in each of our eyes.

We hear it
start up and we
hang on for dear life.
It ends just as quickly
as it all began.

Even though it only lasted
a short moment,
the memory of that day
will last a lifetime.

I was inspired to write this poem based of my mentor poet, Li-Young Lee. He wrote a lot about memories and personal experience.
