In Riding
In riding I borrow the freedom and grace of the horse. I borrow the feeling of flight every time I rise up and over the fence. I can soar like an eagle as I reach the familiar one-two-three, one-two-three steady pounding of my horse’s hooves. I borrow the simplicity of counting the strides towards the fence and after. I borrow the steady beating of a one thousand two hundred pound animal’s heart. I borrow the pride after a hard ride. Most riders have the communication but miss the connection to the horse. I have the communication and the connection, the necessities to ride and survive a horse. I borrow a lot when I ride but most importantly I borrow the will to please and the trust that my horse will understand what I want to do and need to get done.
